Goat farmers invited to participate in workshop─── 08:45 Thu, 26 May 2016
Ritchie - Dairy goat farmers and new entrants into the industry in the Northern Cape will have an opportunity on Thursday 26 May to get more information on how to farm more effectively with milk goats.
SA Milk Goat Breeders Association Chairperson, Donald Mouton, says the day is aimed at all farmers looking to get involved with milk goats. The focus will be on providing information on how to be more profitable in milk goat operations.
“I think what’s important is that it doesn’t matter whether you are farming with a milk goat or with a milk cow. The principles of feeding, especially now with climate change and drought, the handling of animals, which can have a big impact on their immunity, and production – all of these remain very important.
“I think any farmer who is farming with any of these animals will benefit by attending this day.”
The workshop takes place at the Riet Rivier Research Station outside Ritchie.
