GWK confirms resignation of group MD─── 15:15 Mon, 16 Jan 2017
Douglas - The Northern Cape based agri business GWK has confirmed the resignation of its group managing director, Pieter Spies.
GWK said in a statement Spies has accepted a position with a company not related to the agriculture sector and is scheduled to start there in February.
Chief Operating Officer, Pieter Bekker, will serve as acting GM while appropriate succession planning is implemented to ensure the right person is appointed to the position.
Board Chairperson Frank Lawrence praised Spies for being an inspirational leader, saying they are proud of the achievements during his tenure.
He says while they regret his departure, they also understand that it is a great opportunity for him to advance his career.
Lawrence says GWK has a great leadership team and they are confident that the right structures are in place to continue implementing strategies without interruption.
