Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed the relegation bound University of Pretoria Tuks 3-0 on Wednesday night to be crowned the Premier Soccer League champions for 2015/16.

Liberian winger, Anthony Laffor, scored a hat-trick of goals to earn the Brazilians their record seventh PSL title since the inception of the league.

Coach Pitso Mosimane said his side deserved the title following their solid season.

"When you score 53 goals in 28 games and you lose only three matches, when you go 20 games unbeaten, I think then you deserve to win the title.

"We have worked very hard, doing lots of match analysis both individually and as a group. If you do that, you should be able to lift the trophy."

In Wednesday night’s other big league clash, the former champions, Kaizer Chiefs, held Bloemfontein Celtic to a goalless stalemate at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.

Ironically it was these two teams that have played to more draws than any other side in the league this season.

The Amakhosi have 12 draws to their name, while Celtic are hot on their heels with 11 stalemates.

Phunya Sele Sele coach, Serame Letsoaka, said under the circumstances he is happy to share points with Chiefs.

"Under the circumstances I will definitely be happy with a point.

"I had hoped that we would score and try to remove the jinx on us, but unfortunately it did not happen."

Celtic hasn't managed to score a goal against the Glamour Boys since 2010.

In the Mother City, Ajax Cape Town and Jomo Cosmos played to a 2-2 draw.
