#BreakingNews: Four pupils dead after #SchoolBridgeCollapse─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 10:15 Fri, 01 Feb 2019
It has been confirmed that four learners from Driehoek High School in Vanderbijlpark have died this morning following the collapse of a bridge connecting two buildings at the school.
ER24 spokesperson, Russell Meiring, tells OFM News all relevant emergency services are already on the accident scene and roughly 20 more injured learners are being treated.
“Some of the children have sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. Paramedics are currently treating the children and will be able to transfer them to nearby hospitals for further care,” says Meiring.
Motorists are advised to avoid all the roads between Hoërskool Driehoek and MediClinic as the ambulance services cannot get through. Avoid the following roads: Ramsbottom, Piet Retief, Frikkie Meyer Boulevard from Piet Retief to R42, and the R42 crossing with Frikkie Meyer Boulevard.
UPDATE: ER24's Russel Meiring says they have confirmed that the death toll stands at three and not four like initially reported.
