The Hawks in the North West says there is a syndicate operating in Mahikeng targeting employees who are approaching retirement.
The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, says they are currently investigating a matter involving R3 million of pension fund fraud in the capital city. She says the modus operandi of the syndicate is to approach victims and entice them with false promises of turning their pension fund money into millions once they resign.
Rikhotso says the victims of this scam, as well as those who were approached by the syndicate, are encouraged to contact the Hawks.
“Members of the community are hereby warned to be vigilant at all times. Those that became victims of this crime as well as those that were approached by the said syndicate are encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Rakau on 071-481-6002,” Rikhotso adds.
