The spokesperson of Free State Health, Mondli Mvambi, says that about 969 000 people have received their jabs, which is 51% of the targeted 1,9 million people that need to be vaccinated in order to reach population immunity. Of this number, 282 000 or 14,8% are fully vaccinated, while 687 000 or 36,2% have had their first of the two jabs. After the weekend's vaccination campaign, premier Sisi Ntombela stated that the programme in the province is thriving.  She hosted the Deputy President, David Mabuza, over the weekend, as part of the Vooma Campaign.

Mondli says that the Vooma Campaign has boosted the underperforming districts in the province.

“The district that has been a problem in terms of its numbers has been Thabo Mofutsanyana, which the Minister of Health and the MEC of Health in the Free State attended to. It performed very well over the weekend. We are hoping to see improving numbers going forward and will update the nation as the numbers [are received],” he adds.

Mvambi says the Vooma Campaign had positive results, as the province managed to administer 23 844 vaccine jabs over the weekend. He encouraged more people to register and show up for their vaccination jabs.
