Employees at a Harmony mine face disciplinary action─── THANDI THANDI 13:41 Mon, 03 Nov 2014
Carletonville - Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited says a total of 25 employees at the Kusasalethu mine near Carletonville will be facing disciplinary action for their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities at the mine.
Spokesperson, Marian van der Walt says action will be taken against those employees who are helping illegal miners to get access to operations, equipment, food and water.
The mine has had three fires in October this year due to illegal mining activities. The third fire took place last Thursday and management had to close down the mine temporarily. Van Der Walt says illegal mining is a national problem and Kusasalethu cannot afford being non-operational due to the illegal mining.
