Gift of the Givers steps in at Dr Blok─── SAZLY HARTZENBERG 16:45 Thu, 17 Jan 2019
Disaster response NGO, Gift of the Givers, stepped in yesterday to help the learners from Dr Blok Secondary School, who lost everything when a part of their hostel burned down last weekend.
The organisation’s coordinator, Emily Thomas, told OFM News that the organisation normally works very closely with the disaster management team in Bloemfontein. She says they received a call from the community who asked if they would be able to assist.
Thomas further explained that it was only fitting that the organisation came to lend a helping hand because some of these children are from disadvantaged families who will not be able to replace what the children need for the school year.
“We dropped off mattresses, blankets, food, stationery, and hygiene items.”
Meanwhile, OFM urges listeners who still want to donate bedding, clothes, non-perishable food and toiletries, to do so by 16:00 tomorrow (Friday) at the Central Media Park in the north of Bloemfontein,
No cash donations will be accepted by OFM.
