Man in court for driving around with his dead neigbour in the boot | News Article

A 24-year-old man made a brief appearance in the Harrismith Magistrate's court on Friday after being arrested for allegedly killing his neighbour, who is also a local teacher.

Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Mmaki Mophiring, says it is alleged that the victim was last seen by his wife on the 14th of January as she was leaving for work. Upon her return, she was surprised to find blood spatter all over the walls and floors of her house.

The victim's car was missing and his wife alerted police.

Mophiring says the teacher's car was spotted by a family member in Qwaqwa whilst being driven by a stranger.

Later the same day, the car was spotted by security guards in a parking lot of a local hospital.

According to the guards they became suspicious when they saw blood dripping from the car.

Police says upon searching the car they discovered the body, covered in linen, with a serious wound on his neck.

The suspect was found inside the hospital, arrested and detained.

The motive behind this killing is unknown at this stage.

The case has been postponed until the 28th of January when the suspect is expected to apply for bail.
