Former FS correctional services boss allegedly took bribes from Bosasa─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:10 Thu, 24 Jan 2019
A former deputy regional commissioner of the Department of Correctional Services in the Free State has been implicated by the former Bosasa COO, Angelo Agrizzi, while giving testimony at the Zondo Commission on Thursday morning.
Agrizzi told the Zondo Commission that the former FS Deputy Regional Commissioner Grace Molatedi received R50 000 and an extra R100 000 from Bosasa.
He says the money was paid after Molatedi allegedly extended Bosasa’s contract for Groenpunt Prison near Deneysville after a fire broke out at the facility six years ago.
Agrizzi said Molatedi asked Bosasa to put in a mobile kitchen as an expansion of the scope of the contract.
Agrizzi also told the commission how Bosasa boss, Gavin Watson, would instruct him to deliver a huge sum of cash to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) officials, Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi, in exchange for information.
Agrizzi said Watson told him that he should take extra cash for the people in the NPA, including Jiba, Mrwebi and other officials. According to Agrizzi, this money was paid on a monthly basis.
