#FlamingoRescue: Assistance needed from the public─── MOLEBOGENG MALEBO 15:00 Thu, 31 Jan 2019
The nation has united in an effort to save a flamingo species from drought conditions.
Renowned security specialist, Mike Bolhuis, joined forces with the Kimberley SPCA and the Saam Staan Kimberley organisation to do his part in rescuing the lesser flamingo chicks from the Kamfers Dam outside Kimberley, in the Northern Cape, after learning about the conditions that they were facing.
In a facebook post, Bolhuis provides details regarding the Flamingo Project which is a means to provide much-needed care to the birds. The chicks are currently being housed at various bird rehabilitation centres across the country. An urgent appeal is being made to the public to lend a hand by volunteering or by donating essentials which will benefit the flamingo chicks. The items that are needed include feeding equipment, medication and heating lamps.
