NC ANC guns for highly contested by-elections─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 12:42 Sat, 02 Feb 2019
The ANC in the Northern Cape aims to win all seven of the highly contested by-elections in the Frances Baard District on February 13.
ANC Chairperson in the province, Zamani Saul, said this in his address at the Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley at today’s event, which forms part of the ANC’s people manifesto launch ahead of the general elections in May. Saul assured those present, particularly Galeshewe residents, that President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised to make the province his number one priority and will see to it that the Northern Cape gains momentum economically.
Saul said this after OFM News spoke to residents who said that youth unemployment is a challenge in their communities. They further attributed the unemployment rate to the instances of crime and drug abuse in the community.
OFM News’ previous reports indicate that the six Northern Cape ward councillors, who were expelled from the ANC last year, will be standing as independent candidates in the upcoming by-elections. The ward councillors were expelled from the ANC in 2018 after they were found guilty of colluding with the opposition to vote former Sol Plaatje executive mayor, Mangaliso Matika, out of office.
In his address, the ANC Chairperson in the province made no reference to any factions brewing in the party. President Ramaphosa is now delivering his keynote address.
