The Mangaung Metro Municipality’s executive mayor urged the Central University of Technology (CUT) to produce not only job seekers but also more job creators at a media briefing in Bloemfontein yesterday.

The executive mayor, Olly Mlamleli, said that the education system is still struggling to produce work-ready graduates that can make the dream of a better life a reality for all citizens.

Mlamleli further said that she receives over a dozen letters daily with requests and demands, but she is hoping that this will soon change to letters of plans and systems that will drive the economy. She adds that graduates should come with noble ideas and start thinking outside the box to create jobs for all and to develop the province.

Mlamleli says that there are still countless factories in the city that are unoccupied and she challenges the university to come to the municipality with ideas on how to utilise these spaces that will generate job creation. She concluded by saying that the CUT should help the municipality implement plans that will better the city.
