MMM to donate to gender equality programme | News Article

In a time when gender-related issues have been making headlines almost every week, the executive mayor of the metro, Olly Mlamleli, decided to commit R1 million to the Central University of Technology's next generation Women in Leadership programme.

According to Mlamleli, this initiative is one that is very close to her heart and she considers herself a gender activist.

This comes after the CUT vice chancellor, Henk de Jager, announced at the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Mangaung Metro Municipality and the CUT, that they are working extremely hard to promote gender equality at the institution. He said that the university had committed R1 million for five years to the growth of the programme. De Jager said that in the next few years, it will be a woman that addresses the mayor as the vice chancellor of CUT.
