#Nehawu set to intensify strike─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 07:46 Mon, 25 Feb 2019
Questions are mounting as to whether learning and teaching at TVET and CET Colleges across the country will take place this week - or not.
This, as the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) has vowed to intensify its national strike at colleges in all provinces. The union last week embarked on a national strike that saw a number of TVET and CET Colleges shut down. Their other demands include that their members' working conditions be improved and that workers on contract be made permanent.
The union vowed to intensify their strike when negotiations with the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Naledi Pandor, collapsed on Thursday. Pandor has announced that she is committed to resolve the issues raised by the union and is working on measures to find amicable solutions to the challenges experienced.
The union is, however, steadfast that the strike will run indefinitely until their demands are met and that workers will only report for duty once their calls have been heeded.
