Mangaung respects investigations into death of #SeipatiLechoano─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:47 Thu, 28 Feb 2019
The Mangaung Metro Municipality, that includes Bloemfontein in the Free State, says it respects the continued investigations into the death of the slain municipal employee, Seipati Lechoano, who was found dead with her hands and feet tied up.
Lechoano was found in the boot of her car at the Bram Fischer’s parking lot in December 2018 after she was reported missing on the 19 February 2019. The municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, tells OFM News that as the municipality, they feel that they have done everything possible to assist with the investigations into the kidnapping and murder of Lechoano on December 24, 2018.
This as police spokesperson, Motansti Makhele, told OFM News that the status quo remains the same in the case with police still doing their investigations. He said no-one has been arrested thus far since the launch of the investigations after Lechoano’s body was discovered in December 2018. Khedama adds that the municipality has been in constant contact with the police to inquire about any new developments in the case but the police have since informed the municipality that investigations are still continuing.
Khedama says the municipality is really not bothered about rumours that Lechoano may have stepped on other’s toes because she was a clerk at the municipality’s anti-fraud subdivision.
He says although some may feel that the investigations are dragging for long there is nothing the municipality can do other than allow the investigations to continue without undue pressure on the police.
Lechoano's decomposed body was discovered by the police on that day and the post mortem have since been labelled inconclusive by the police.
