NW police mum on boys’ deaths─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:43 Sat, 09 Mar 2019
North West police say they cannot divulge any further information surrounding the death of two ten-year-old boys in Mahikeng.
This after Premier Job Mokgoro yesterday had to calm angry residents of Montshiwa, who wanted to take the law into their own hands after it was spread on social media that the boys were allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday and then murdered and mutilated by foreign nationals.
The bodies of Onalenna Molehabangwe and Gontse Cholowere were Thursday night found floating in a swimming pool at a residence in Imperial Reserve.
An eye witness claimed they were kidnapped but it has also been speculated that they might have drowned.
Police spokesperson, Lesedi Dingoko, says they cannot confirm any information at this stage and they are still waiting for preliminary results.
In turn, Mokgoro’s spokesperson, Vuyisile Ngesi, said that the premier, during his visit to that area, managed to calm the residents, who threatened to set alight Nigerian nationals, suspected of the crime.
He explained contrary to earlier reports that the two boys were kidnapped, police have not been able to corroborate the information. It is, however, suspected that they may have drowned.
