The health service delivery challenges are expected to be in the spotlight at the Matlosana state health care facility on Monday during the Health MEC Madoda Sambatha’s surprise visit.

This follows after a series of complaints by residents and patients over the shortage of medication, amongst others.

The departmental spokesperson, Tebogo Lekgethwane, says the MEC will visit two clinics in that area. Lekgethwane says this forms part of a commitment by Sambatha following his appointment in December 2018 to resolve health service delivery challenges in the province.

OFM News previously reported that Sambatha has criticised what he called the snail's pace at which construction at the R130 million community healthcare centre in Sekhing, Taung, is proceeding.

Sambatha informed residents at a meeting on Wednesday that it is unacceptable that the Community Health Centre (CHC) is yet to be completed eight years after construction commenced. The MEC also visited the construction site amidst protests by residents with regard to the healthcare challenges, which are being fuelled by the delay of the centre’s completion.
