NW Police maintain two boys drowned─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:35 Mon, 11 Mar 2019
The police have urged members of the public and those who suspect any foul play in the deaths of two boys who were found dead on Thursday night, floating in a swimming pool at a residence in Imperial Reserve in Mahikeng, to come forward.
North West police spokesperson, Lesedi Dingoko, tells OFM News this follows allegations on social media last week that the two ten-year-old boys, Onalenna Molehabangwe and Gontse Cholowere, were being kidnapped and mutilated by three foreign nationals in a Volkswagen Polo.
This led to angry residents threatening to shut down and burn all properties belonging to foreign nationals with the intentions of avenging the death of these two boys.
OFM News previously reported that the office of the premier, Job Mokgoro, was informed by the police that the two were not mutilated or even kidnapped as initially thought but instead died as a result of drowning. Dingoko says following preliminary results on the death of the two, the police maintain their position that at this stage they are certain that the boys died as a result of drowning.
Ngesi said that the premier, during his visit to that area on Friday, managed to calm the residents, who threatened to set alight Nigerian nationals suspected of the crime.
He explained, contrary to earlier reports that the two boys were kidnapped, police have not been able to corroborate the information.
