NW Human Settlement MEC given three days to respond to irate residents─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:46 Thu, 14 Mar 2019
The North West MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements (Cogta), Motlalepula Rosho, has three days to respond to the demands of irate residents in the Naledi Local Municipality that includes Vryburg.
This as residents on Wednesday marched over to the local municipal offices to hand over a memorandum of demands that includes the removal of the mayor, Neo Skalk, and the Municipal Manager, Tshepo Bloom, amongst other demands.
The Municipal spokesperson, Kgomotso Mmusi, tells OFM News the march by irate residents was peaceful but there were reports of a group of people who burned tyres in town in protest against the municipality. Mmusi says the police quickly managed to control the situation and there were no reports of vandalism or injury.
OFM News previously reported that residents also want a report on the investigations in relation to the VBS Mutual Bank saga. Mmusi earlier said that the municipality was aware of the protests by irate residents over water issues but they are not particularly clear on other issues that may be raised in the memorandum.
