Police choristers and musicians give back to one of their own─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 12:30 Fri, 15 Mar 2019
Police choristers and musicians from around the country, who are in Bloemfontein this week for a music conference, are, today (15 March), giving back to one of their own.
The officials, who form part of the Police Music and Cultural Association (Polmusca), are handing over renovated furniture, new household appliances and other donations to blind Parkweg Switchboard Operator Kabelo Balopedi and his family who rent a house in Phelindaba township. Polmusca spokesperson, Jabulani Maswanganye, says the operator’s wife, Lulama, is also blind, while the couple’s three children, between the ages of six and fourteen are partially blind. Maswanganye says the donations are a token of appreciation from 66 Polmusca singers and 41 band members from all over the country who have used money from their own pockets to fund a part of the project, coined, ‘Project Harmony’.
The Polmusca members received a lending hand from various sponsors who donated groceries and funded the payment of caregivers who will assist the family with their needs. Maswanganye says they have repaired some of the household furniture including wardrobes. The Polmusca spokesperson says, in addition to this, they have bought a washing machine to make house chores a bit easier for the family. There was also a blocked sewerage drain which they managed to fix to make the house habitable.
