Bee hero gets own lucky break─── 12:43 Sat, 16 Mar 2019
The petrol attendant, who made waves on social media this week, after he was seen saving toddlers from a car after a swarm of bees invaded a service station in Bloemfontein, has had his own good luck.
Duncan Bokwa’s employer, Engen, this morning while he was being interviewed by Pieter Venter on OFM’s Weekend Breakfast show, announced that they will be providing him with R30 000 funding to continue his studies.
The 25-year-old could be seen on the video, which surfaced Thursday, pulling three children from a car at Engen Heidedal after the driver stepped out of the vehicle and was immediately surrounded by the swarm of bees.
The attendants earlier shut patrons in the shop when they became aware of the bee threat. The driver, however, only noticed the bees once he was being stung.
Bokwa also sustained several stings in the process of getting the children to safety. They were unharmed.
He is currently studying at a local college.
