This is according to the ANC top structure, after Deputy President David Mabuza visited the Taung area in the North West on Saturday while ANC Chair Gwede Mantashe headed to the town of Kathu in the Northern Cape.

The two leaders’ visits were part of their campaign trail ahead of the much anticipated May 8 elections. Their door to door visits have put  service delivery issues faced in the two provinces, high unemployment rates and divisions within the parties under the spotlight.

Mabuza has nonetheless announced that he is confident the party could still win the North West despite its disbanded Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and Provincial Task Team (PTT).

Division within this province took a dramatic turn when the South Gauteng High Court last month ruled that the disbanded PEC led by former provincial chair Supra Mahumapelo be reinstated.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) has since appealed this ruling. Both Mabuza and Mantashe have expressed their confidence in the two province ahead of the elections.
