The troubled Maluti-A-Phofung Municipality in the Eastern Free State will once again be under scrutiny when President Cyril Ramaphosa takes the ANC's election campaign to the area today.

Ramaphosa is expected to engage the community of Phuthaditjhaba with door-to-door visits.

He's thereafter expected to address supporters at the Charles Mopeli Stadium, where he will be joined by Premier Sisi Ntombela and members of the Provincial Executive Committee.

Issues relating to a lack of water supply in the area, service delivery protests, municipal employees' strikes over non-payment of salaries and third parties, as well as ANC divisions within the region, are among some of the issues he is expected to address.

The president is also expected to, along with Education MEC Tate Makgoe, support the #ForTheLoveOfBooks project aimed at encouraging more children to read in QwaQwa.

The official programme at the Charles Mopeli Stadium is expected to commence 09:00.
