Mahumapelo push to uncover those ‘concocting lies’ about him | News Article

The former North West premier, Supra Mahumapelo, has confirmed to OFM News the IEC’s dismissal of all objections by his detractors to his inclusion on the African National Congress (ANC) party candidates list to parliament.

In a media briefing on Tuesday, the IEC announced they had dismissed nearly all the objections they had received against candidates nominated by political parties contesting this year’s elections.

OFM News previously reported that Mahumapelo said it’s unfortunate that his name is being punted on different media platforms as someone who's failed the ethics and integrity test. He says he wrote to the IEC in line with the Electoral Act and he is happy the commission has decided to disclose the information to the public and not only him. He adds that he has not received a response from the IEC about the content of the complaint or the complaint. Mahumapelo says he will still continue to push to uncover the names of those who objected to his name and are busy concocting lies about him.

In a briefing, the IEC chairperson, Mosotho Moepya, says only one objection was upheld, which came from the PAC against its own candidate, Alton Mphethi, due to a criminal conviction.

Ten parties, namely the African Content Movement, the African Christian Democratic Party, the African Independent Congress, the Alliance for Transformation for All, the ANC, Black First Land First, the DA, the EFF, the PAC, and the Land Party, had candidates subjected to objections.
