This comes after reports that the department has remained mum on corruption allegations involving Bosasa. 

Former Bosasa COO, Angelo Agrizzi, has during his testimony accused a department official of accepting a bribe to secure a tender worth more than R10 million.

It is alleged that the official accepted a R1.2 million bribe in exchange for a tender that saw security upgrades at the department’s building in Kimberley.

Agrizzi testified that Bosasa paid its way into securing a tender that was advertised by the department back in 2013, which called for tender bids for the design, delivery, and installations of access and surveillance systems. 

The department’s spokesperson, Geoffrey van der Merwe, told OFM News that the department will cooperate with the Zondo Commission and provide further information on the matter when summoned by the Zondo Commission as they are the commission appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to deal with state capture allegations.
