#BloemfonteinCeltic fans' hope flares up | News Article

Bloemfontein Celtic supporters on Wednesday received encouraging news that the sale of the club might go ahead early next week.

This follows the urgent meeting between the provincial government task team, the Supporters’ National Executive Committee (NEC), management, and the potential buyers this week.

The meeting was called following the horrific scenes experienced when supporters invaded the pitch at a game against Cape Town City at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Sunday.

Police had to use rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse the crowd and several supporters were arrested. They since appeared in court on Tuesday where they were released on bail.

However, following the chaos on Sunday, all stakeholders met in an urgent meeting on Monday morning to map the way forward.

In the meeting, it was agreed that Max Tshabalala should intensify his efforts to sort out the paperwork for the sale to go through. The protesting supporters want Tshabalala out, as well as the club to be sold to the potential buyer, Sinki Leshabane, and the consortium.

It was also agreed that Tshabalala must declare his debts but the money will be in the Trust Account of the consortium until they are satisfied with all the debts of the team.

According to the NEC Chairman, Mabena Pule, Tshabalala handed the documents to the task team with an exception of the CK documents and compliance letter from SARS.

They then pleaded with Tshabalala to go to SARS with Leshabane to sort out the papers and then an Offer to Purchase would be made available.

Pule says they are upbeat that the deal would finally be reached next week.

He adds that at last, the meeting has certainly provided the fans with hope and all they have to do is wait for next week to see if the deal would indeed go through this time around.
