The 17-year-old was arrested a day before Easter Friday, following the death of a 64-year-old woman, his grandmother, at Seekoei Street in Grootdrink just outside Groblershoop.

Police spokesperson, Olebogeng Tawana, says the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect could have had an argument with his grandmother, which resulted in the fatality. He says the 17-year-old was arrested on the scene and is charged with murder in connection with the incident.

Tawana says it still remains unclear as to how the teenager allegedly murdered the grandmother and investigations continues.
