#ANCvsANC: Disgruntled group to appeal | News Article

The African National Congress’ (ANC) court woes seem to be far from over with a disgruntled group looking set to appeal the Johannesburg High Court decision on Wednesday.

The court had struck an application from the roll which sought to declare the provincial list conference unconstitutional and invalid. Speaking to OFM News, the spokesperson for the disgruntled, Monnapula Ntamo, said they will appeal the decision to strike the matter from the roll but did not say when.

Earlier, the ANC’s acting spokesperson, Dakota Legoete, told OFM News that the party was a bit suspicious of what he said was opportunistic members who take the party to court continuously. Ntamo, however, said after exhausting all the right channels within the party it was clear that no-one within the ANC was prepared to listen to their grievances hence, the last resort was to take it to the court.

Ntamo said the decision to take the ANC to court had nothing to do with a lost case against its provincial structure that was challenged in court recently. He said the reasoning behind the court is that party members of the national list were not elected by their branches and as a result, they are illegal. There has been a string of disputes launched by ANC members over their exclusion from the party’s list of candidates to Parliament. The party has also had its hands full dealing with criticism around some of the controversial inclusions.
