Mangaung residents could face water shortage─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:43 Sat, 27 Apr 2019
Residents of the Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM), which includes Bloemfontein in the Free State, could be facing water shortages today.
This follows after the Welbedacht Water Treatment Works had to curtail production due to debris blocking the screens at the dam after recent heavy rains.
The Bloem Water spokesperson, Maruping Rapudungoane, says maintenance teams are working around the clock to deal with the issue and they anticipate that problem will last for eight hours from 10am to 6pm in areas that include Wepener, Dewetsdorp, Pellissier and Lourier Park.
“Jojo tanks will be placed at the affected areas and filled so that residents can collect some water while Bloem Water is resolving the matter.”
Rapudungoane says water pressure will start increasing gradually once all the distribution reservoir levels are back to an acceptable state by the latest Monday morning.
