This as Lele Mamatu, the spokesperson of the Metro’s power utility, Centlec, says they are experiencing high power outages and the cause of the problem is not yet known. Residents report that power outages by the entity have hit areas to the north as far as a Wild Olive Estate, to the south as far as Uitsig and Memoriam, and as far as Langenhoven Park in the west and Estoire in the east. OFM News previously reported that a suspected cable thief was electrocuted at a substation behind the Naval Hill area on Friday in an incident that Mamatu partially blamed for sporadic power outages in certain areas in the city. Mamatu says the high power outages incident is being investigated by technicians who are already on site.

“Centlec wishes to apologise for this unplanned interruption and will request all electricity users to treat appliances as live as power may be restored at any time,” says Mamatu.
