In an attempt to restore stability and normalcy in the troubled North West Traditional Council, premier Job Mokgoro has again this past weekend on Saturday 27 April 2019 met with all the affected parties in the matter.

These efforts by Mokgoro follows after allegations of maladministration and financial mismanagement by Kgosi-kgolo Motheo Mamogale, amongst others.

This has apparently led to divisions within the Royal family and rendered the council dysfunctional. Some within the council has since approached and submitted documents to the Premier’s office pleading for his intervention. OFM News previously reported that in an effort to try and deal with issues plaguing the council, Mokgoro said he would facilitate and speed up the Special Investigative Unit's (SIU) investigations into the allegations. In a statement, the office of the premier says as part of his intervention effort, Mokgoro met with affected stakeholders to reflect on the allegations made and further discussed possible interventions, with the appointment of an Administrator.

It further says in a statement that in taking this decision, Mokgoro invoked Section 10(3) of the North West Traditional Leadership and Governance Act, Act No 2 of 2003. “The Terms of Reference of the Administrator who will be supported by a team comprising of government officials and community-elected representatives will be developed in line with the inputs made by the community, to ensure that the work of the team is informed by issues on the ground”.

“Premier Mokgoro, who will announce the appointed administrator in due course informed the meeting that an anthropologist will also be deployed to the Bakwena-Ba-Mogopa Royal Family by the end of May this year, to help resolve the Royal Family membership issues and unite them,” the statement read.
