Medical emergency services ER24’s spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says two men were killed and three others injured last night when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned multiple times.

He says upon the paramedic’s arrival at around 19:00 they found a vehicle on the side of the road on a small embankment with five men trapped inside. He adds that the patients were quickly assessed and it was found that two men had sustained numerous fatal injuries while the three sustained minor to moderate injuries. Meiring says nothing could be done for the two men and they were later declared dead.

“Fire services freed the three injured from the vehicle, as well as the two fatalities, using the jaws-of-life equipment and once freed, paramedics treated the injured and thereafter transported them to Carletonville Provincial Hospital for further care.”

“Local authorities are further investigating,” Meiring concluded.
