The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to Greece, Terens Quick, hopes to exchange views with South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, in the month following the nation’s elections on Wednesday. .


Quick, who is currently in South Africa and attended an event for Greek expats living in the Free State city of Welkom on Sunday, says he and Minister Lindiwe Sisulu are good friends and he hopes to engage her post the country’s elections on many of the issues affecting the world presently. Quick did not elaborate on what some of those issues are but did wish the country luck. Quick says he enjoyed his stay in Welkom and found the people to be friendly and warm.

“I am very glad to be in Welkom,” says Quick. He adds that it is the first visit by a Greek Foreign Minister to the Free State city, making it a first for them.

Quick, a former reporter, was joined by the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, Roussos Koundouros, the Consul-General of the Hellenic Republic, Ioannis Chatzantonakis, as well as the President of the Hellenic Federation of South Africa, John Philippou, at the church service and lunch. The community is a very close-knit community and parts of the event were closed off to the media.
