This, after they were arrested on Sunday following an attempted robbery. 

It is alleged that the G4S security guards were collecting money at a local chain store in Virginia when they were allegedly approached by three armed suspects who randomly opened fire. 

According to the Hawks’ Lynda Steyn, the guards retaliated and two of the suspects and a female staff member at the store were wounded during the shootout. 

Steyn, says suspects fled the scene empty-handed and the Hawks’ Priority Crime Investigations Unit swiftly traced them to a hospital in Welkom where they managed to arrest two suspects.

She says one suspect is still at large while these two remain in hospital under police guard.

They face charges of attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances as well as attempted murder.

Steyn says investigations continue and she appeals to anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the third suspect to contact their nearest police station.
