Another FS school gets tablets─── 07:35 Wed, 08 May 2019
Another set of Grade Ten students at a Free State School got to benefit from the roll-out of tablets since the announcement by President Cyril Ramphosa in his State of the Nation Address earlier this year.
A total of 717 learners from Tiisetsang High School in Bethlehem are set to receive tablets this month after Deputy President David Mabuza and Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela - who adopted this project - visited the school last week.
The tablets are supplied through the Closed-Loop Learner Network Company (CLN) that is rolling out of the pilot project by raising the required social investment from various companies for each school, including as is the case here, through government commitment.
This also forms part of the Rotary Club and OFM News’ #ForTheLoveOfBooks campaign.
OFM’s Marketing Manager, Lindiwe Mtwentula, explains that the aim of this campaign was to collect as many books as possible for children in Central South Africa. She states that in the most recent development regarding the campaign, the radio station has become involved as a media partner in the CLN project in the Free State, which involves implementing President Cyril Ramaphosa’s vision to take tablets to schools. She alludes that this is an effort to improve the state of education and to give learners digital access to textbooks.
