Unemployment rate in SA increases | News Article

Statistics South Africa has that announced the unemployment rate in South Africa has increased to 27,6%.

The results of the Quarterly Labour Force Survey for the first quarter of 2019, revealed that the unemployment rate increased with half a percentage point, after being 27,1% at the end of the fourth quarter in 2018.

The unemployment figures were in line with the estimates of analysts, who attributed this to a lack of economic growth in the past few months.

In the last quarter of 2018, the largest unemployment rates were recorded in the Free State, which stood at 36,3. According to the survey, there are 16.3 million employed people and 6.2 million unemployed people between the ages of 15 and 64 years in South Africa.
