NW Legislature prepares for the elect of new members─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 13:48 Fri, 17 May 2019
Preparations for the much-anticipated first sitting of the North West Legislature are underway.
According to the Secretary to the Legislature, Oageng Mosiane, the first sitting which will see the election of the Speaker of the House, the Deputy Speaker, Chief Whip, and the Premier is set to take place on 22 May.
Mosiane says all the preparations are running smoothly and it is all systems go.
He says the Judge President of the Mmabatho High Court, Judge Monica Leeuw, will preside over the inauguration of members at ten in the morning, and is certain an announcement on the North West premier-elect will be made by then.
This, as the country still awaits an announcement by the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) on who will take the reins in the province, after it announced the names of seven premier candidates for the eight provinces it retained in the general elections held on May 8.
