Questions are mounting as to whether former Northern Cape Premier Sylvia Lucas, former Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete and former minister Malusi Gigaba will make it to President Cyril Ramaphosa's cabinet.

This, after parliamentary spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, last night confirmed that the three members are amongst those who will not be taking up their seats as National Assembly MPs.

Lucas, who was initially on the National Assembly list will be deputy chair of the National Council of Provinces while Gigaba and Mbete have both withdrawn their names from the ANC candidate list of MPs.

Their decision to withdraw their names from the ANC's parliamentary list came just a day before the much anticipated swearing-in of MPs and the president by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.

They also declined their seats just hours after the ANC held it's first caucus meeting ahead of the swearing-in ceremony. Meanwhile, social media users have gone to Twitter and Facebook to express their concerns and pose questions as to whether the two will now be ministers under Ramaphosa's new dawn.
