Job Mokgoro not the right person for the job-NW DA─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:51 Wed, 22 May 2019
It’s no secret that Job Mokgoro was pulled from retirement and was also used as a neutralizer for the African National Congress’s factional fights a, hence he is not the right candidate to be the Premier of the North West.
This is according to the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the province. The leader of the opposition party in the province, Joe McGluwa, says the newly announced premier candidate, Mokgoro, was a compromise candidate, who has been tasked by Luthuli House.
He says Mokgoro’s appointment an effort by the ANC to balance the interests of two opposing factions and not that of the residents in the province who are demanding proper and quality service delivery.
McGluwa is of the view that one faction is allegedly led by the president, Cyril Ramaphosa and another faction is allegedly led by staunch supporters of former president Jacob Zuma and Mokgoro’s predecessor Supra Maphumulo.
OFM News previously reported that the ANC’s former Secretary General in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda region, Lopang Rothman, said the nomination of Mokgoro meant that the other grouping in the province was celebrating.
Rothman’s utterances come after the ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule, on Monday during a media briefing held in Cape Town announced Mokgoro was a chosen candidate for the province in an effort to foster unity in the province.
Meanwhile, McGluwa says Mokgoro has a few skeletons of his own linking him to the alleged shady game breeding deal in the province.
He says the DA might gain legal opinion to implement the decision of the parliamentary portfolio committee on environmental affairs where it was revealed that at least two signatures and a letter addressed to Mokgoro link the North West premier to the 2015 multimillion-rand game donation.
Mokgoro was the chairperson of the North West Parks Board when the donation was concluded in 2016.
