The case against 24 people arrested in Viljoenskroon following protests that flared up during Special Votes is expected to be heard in the local magistrate court tomorrow (Friday).

The group, which includes women, is allegedly involved in the torching of a community hall that was set to be a voting station, and a local clinic.
The unrest that broke out just a day before May 8 elections was allegedly due to lack of service delivery in the area.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, has confirmed that the situation has returned to normal following the arrests and that the police had to keep a very close eye on this town as well as in other towns where there to enable elections to run smoothly, amidst sporadic protest action.
