Dealesville murders: Arrested suspects allegedly illegal immigrants | News Article

The two people arrested this weekend for the murder of Dealesville DA Councillor, Monica Deniacos, and her husband Basil, won't be appearing in court on Monday for the murder, as originally reported.

According to new information received by OFM News, they will allegedly be appearing on charges relating to being illegal immigrants.

The Free State-based couple’s bloodied bodies were discovered by their helper when she arrived for work on Friday morning, May 31. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, told OFM News previously that a blunt object has been identified as the murder weapon.

Makhele says Monica, who was 68 years old, was found lying in the passage while her 74-year-old husband’s body was found beside the bed. A gun and a Toyota bakkie, belonging to the couple, has been reported missing. The incident is believed to have occurred on Thursday, the day before their bodies were found.

Meanwhile, the Free State’s newly appointed MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Thembeni Nxangisa, will visit the slain couple’s family on Monday. Cogta spokesperson, Zolile Lobe, says the MEC will pay homage to the DA councillor and businesswoman.

DA leader in the province, Patricia Kopane, says Monica, who had been a councillor at the Tokologo Local Municipality for three years and served the community to the best of her abilities, was well-liked by her community.
