Second post mortem after journalist’s death also inconclusive | News Article

Bloemfontein police say they can still not provide conclusive findings into the death of Junior Bonase, an award-winning journalist, who mysteriously died on his way to Parys almost a fortnight ago.

According to the police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, Bonase’s body was found around 23h00 at Heuningspruit near Kroonstad on the N1 with his face badly bruised.

Speaking to OFM News, Mbambo says they have not yet established whether injuries were hand-induced or caused by a vehicle.

She says, like with the first post mortem, the results are still inconclusive. However, they are still waiting on results for samples sent for forensic tests to return.

Bonase was working for the local publication, Dumelang News, and was apparently working on a story when he was killed.

The 41-year-old was laid to rest on Saturday in his home town of Springfontein.

The family says they have accepted that their son is no more but the circumstances leading to his death still pain them greatly.

Speaker after speaker at the funeral described him as a humble and dedicated journalist who only wanted to make a difference in his community.

Mbambo says they hope to get results soon and they are still investigating his horrific death.
