Talks over JB Marks Municipality ongoing─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:21 Sun, 09 Jun 2019
The decision as to whether to implement a resolution taken by the Executive Committee (Exco) recently to place the troubled JB Marks municipality in the North West under administration is under scrutiny.
This is as the joint team led by the local and provincial government officials met on Friday to engage the premier, Job Mokgoro, on some of the analysis done recently.
The mayoral spokesperson, Victor Boqo, tells OFM News that no formal decision has been taken yet to put them under administration, and the new MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Gordon Kegakilwe, will table a report before Exco.
Meanwhile, Vuyisile Ngesi, the spokesperson in the office of the premier, tells OFM News that despite the decision taken by Exco to place the said municipality under administration, necessary steps to enforce the decision have not been taken yet.
Ngesi says despite Exco’s decision on the municipality, the municipality is technically not under administration due to the ongoing talks between Mokgoro local officials to review the decision.
