The accident claimed four people’s lives and one moderately injured person was sent to the Dihlabeng Hospital in the province.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy was hospitalised on Saturday when he was knocked over by a bakkie in Duncanville, Vereeniging, in Gauteng. Another two people were left injured when two light motor vehicles collided on the Van Zyl Smit Street in Carletonville.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said one man was found seated inside one of the vehicles while another man was found walking around on the scene.

He said the medics assessed the men and found that one had sustained minor injuries while the other had sustained moderate injuries. Eight people also died in three separate crashes in the farming community of Rawsonville, Western Cape.
