Court interdict delays release of NW findings | News Article

North West Premier, Job Mokgoro, says he cannot release the findings of a report on allegations of maladministration in three different traditional councils after a court interdict.

He was expected to release the Maluleke-report today, but his office indicated that he is unable to make any part of the report public because some members of the Bapo ba Mogale clan applied for a court interdict preventing the release of the report.

The Maluleke report followed an inquiry into the tribal affairs of two Bapo Ba Mogale clans and the Bakgatla ba Kgafela clan in the province. Mokgoro also says the North West government is going to challenge the interdict and as soon as the legal processes have been concluded he will inform the traditional councils when the report will be published.

OFM News previously reported that in an effort to try and deal with issues plaguing the council, Mokgoro said he would facilitate and speed up the investigations into the allegations of maladministration. Mokgoro said the investigation will pave a way to address fears and concerns of the people who asked him to intervene in the matter. The tribal leaders of the clans welcomed the decision by Mokgoro to facilitate and speed up the SIU's investigations into the allegations of maladministration at the Tribal Council.
