Case against suspected #KarlReich killers postponed | News Article

The case against two suspects, Mojafela Michael Tseki and Dickson Motseki, who were arrested for the alleged murder of a 82-year-old Welkom man, Karl Reich, has been postponed to next week.

The pair, charged with murder, kidnapping, and theft of the elderly man’s two vehicles and household belongings, is set to re-appear before the Local Magistrate’s Court on June the 27th for a formal bail application.

The suspects were arrested in Welkom on Friday, June 14, more than eight months after Reich was reported missing. The accused are alleged to have accosted the victim in his Jim Fouche Park home and strangled him. They then placed the deceased’s body in the boot of one of his cars before making way with two vehicles – a Kia and a Honda - belonging to Reich, as well as a number of household items including two TVs, speakers, a watch and a cell phone. The Hawks spokesperson, Lynda Steyn, told OFM News they are still on a manhunt for the third suspect and investigations continue…

OFM News previously reported that, unbeknownst to his concerned family, Reich’s abandoned body was found in Pretoria only a day after his neighbour alerted police in September 2018 when noticing something was amiss in the elderly man’s home.

The body was taken to the state mortuary and a post-mortem was performed. After no connection was made to a case and the body remained unclaimed, the 82-year-old was given a pauper’s funeral in the capital.
