Police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says they have recovered two stolen firearms shortly after a burglary was reported in Fiskaal Street in Lakeview last week, but are still in search of the suspects. He says a man reported a case of burglary at his residence on Friday after unknown suspects broke into his house and forcefully removed the rifle safe where it was mounted on the wall.

He says the police shortly afterwards received information which led them to Flamingo Pan in Welkom where the rifle safe was found abandoned with two firearms inside it. He says the items were handed back to the complainant and investigations continues.

Thakeng appeals to anyone who might have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward or contact Detective Lt-Col. Goli Ngubeni of the Welkom detective service on 082-372-0423.
