Police spokesperson, Malebo Khosana, says a body of an unknown man in his 40s was reported by a passer-by during the early hours of Sunday morning. He says the accident took place on the N1 route about 5km from Ventersburg in the direction of Winburg. Khosana says a number plate with a Gauteng registration and a Volkswagen badge were found not far from the scene. He says the driver of the alleged vehicle failed to report the accident and they are on a manhunt for him.

Khosana adds that “the deceased was wearing grey short trousers, a black Jersey with blue and green sports shoes when he was found”.

He says the police are still trying to locate the next of kin of the unknown deceased and investigations into a case of culpable homicide continue.
