FS Municipality technically bankrupt─── 14:34 Tue, 02 Jul 2019
Passing its budget after several failed attempts does not mean that Maluti-a-Phofung municipality in the Free State’s financial woes are over says acting mayor, Moeketsi Lebesa.
He told OFM News that the municipality has no money. Lebesa says the total amount of income is R1.6 billion while expenditure stands on R3.2 billion.
He further explains that the leadership of the municipality should work hard to increase the municipality’s revenue.
Lebese further says that residents who can afford to pay their water and electricity bills are not doing so.
The municipality who was in turmoil, was forced to meet this past Sunday as they had just one day left before its deadline as the municipality would have to be dissolved if it missed the cut-off date.
